Royal Strays consists of Alternative Tentacles recording artist Ani Kyd
Wolf and the fierce rhythm section of Sons Of Freedom, Don Binns and
Don Short.
This unique three piece swings through sounds of dark cabaret to
haunting country and everything in between while creating their own
sound. This new project sounds more like a combination of 16
Horsepower meets Portishead than their driving heavy previous sonic
adventures of yesterday.
Don Binns plays Acoustic guitar and piano as his main instruments in this
trio. Don Short is a versatile brilliant drummer, utilizing his brushes and
jazz chops in these songs, while Ani Kyd Wolf pulls out her haunting
vocals that weave through the songs in a somewhat untypical way.
August 2024 they recorded their
debut album with producer Dave
Rave Ogilvie at the iconic Hipposonic
Studios in Vancouver. While
recording they shot footage for their
documentary that will accompany the
release of
their
debut
album.

I have been writing creatively for the past 50 years, having produced multiple manuscripts over the decades, many abandoned and left incompleted, others tossed in the trash or lost, and most deposited in boxes or stored on electronic files. The obvious question is whether I have any published works to my credit, and the short answer is “no” except for, that is, 3 or 4 poems in an Indigenous poetry anthology, Gatherings, published by Theytus Press in British Columbia. The long answer is that I have never sought publication for any of my works because, although I believed that these individual works possessed a noteworthy literary caliber and significant vision behind the writing, I was not convinced that they would survive beyond a first printing, so I chiefly wrote for my own pleasure and devoted the years to polishing my craft. But all that changed as of October, 2010, when I began to write my novel Great Expectations for Generation Z that has since become a trilogy under that general title. Each book in the trilogy is titled respectively: My Life of Humble Origins, The Birth of the American Reich, and The End of Last Things. What changed my mind about seeking publication for this work was the fact that I noticed a dramatic turn in my writing from the very first few pages, a significant leap in the style, tone, quality, originality, and relevance of this novel to contemporary affairs.

MOSAIC ARTIST
When his children were older, a simple domestic need—a piece of furniture to accommodate a new flat-screen television—reignited his creative spark. A friend suggested tiling the surface, and Eric discovered he loved the process: the precision of design, the way light played across the finished piece, and the satisfaction of transforming ordinary materials into something beautiful. That spark grew into a deep love for mosaics, the human figure, faces, and animals—subjects that now define his work.
Today, in his mid-sixties and based in Ladner, British Columbia, Eric Lundgren is a full-time mosaic artist. Working in a bold Byzantine and Greco-Roman-inspired style, he creates large-scale mosaic portraits and figurative pieces that celebrate iconic faces and the enduring power of the human image. Every tile is placed with intention, every grout line part of the story.
After a life of many chapters—rough beginnings, musical dreams, technical trades, world travel, family, and reinvention—Eric is finally doing exactly what he was meant to do: making art that brings light, character, and beauty into the world, and loving every minute of it.
